SRINAGAR: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has secured 19th position among India’s top technical universities in the India Today Rankings 2026, improving three places from its 22nd position in 2025.
The institute attributed the improvement to the collective efforts of its faculty, students, researchers, staff, alumni and other stakeholders.
NIT Srinagar Director Prof Anurag Misra congratulated the institute fraternity, saying the achievement reflected its sustained focus on academic excellence, research, innovation and institutional development.
The latest ranking marks a further improvement in the institute’s standing among technical institutions in the country.
NIT Srinagar, established in 1960 as a Regional Engineering College, is a public technical university in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It has the status of an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education.
