There is no encounter going-on in North Kashmir’s Hajin town, army said on Thursday afternoon.

Notably, reports reaching here early today had said that an “encounter” ensued between suspected militants and forces in Khos Mohalla of Hajin. However, Srinagar based defence spokesperson said that there is “no encounter in the area”. “There is cordon and search operation going-on in the area,” Srinagar based Army PRO, Lt Col N N Joshi told Kashmir Life.

Joshi said that there “was no firing in the area”. “No such incident took place,” he added.

Meanwhile, reports reaching here said that there is “silence in the area this time”. “There is no action on ground this time,” a reporter who drove to Hajin, 25 KMs from Srinagar, told Kashmir Life over phone.

There were reports of stone pelting as well while forces cordoned off the area early today.

Despite repeated attempts, JKP could not be contacted.
