Quoting sources, KNO reported that no government departments in Jammu and Kashmir will observe any New Year events during this mourning period.

However, the tourism department will begin its winter carnival events in Pahalgam on January 2, 2024. The Gulmarg Winter Carnival will be held in mid-January, while National Tourism Day will be celebrated in Srinagar. Additional events are also planned in Sonamarg, Doothapthri, Lolab, and other locations, the sources added.

Dr Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister and Congress leader, passed away at the age of 92 at Delhi’s AIIMS last week due to age-related health issues.

Following his death, the Union Government declared a seven-day national mourning, with the national flag flying at half-mast, and all official functions and celebrations postponed during this period.
