Properties Valued at Rs 1 Crore Attached in South Kashmir: Police

   

SRINAGAR: In a major move to combat drug-related crimes and dismantle narcotics networks, the police in Anantnag have attached properties worth Rs 1 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

“In Nowshera Srigufwara, a single-storey house and one Kanal of land, valued at ₹20 lakh, belonging to Bilal Ahmad Rather, son of Wali Mohammad Rather, have been attached. Bilal is named in FIR No. 57/2021 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act, in connection with the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics,” a police spokesperson in a statement said.

In Sirhama Srigufwara, a house on a one-Kanal plot, worth Rs 40 lakh, belonging to Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie, son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganaie, has been seized. Ganaie is linked to FIR No. 99/2021 under the NDPS Act, involving the recovery of significant contraband.

“In Ainoo Aishmuqam, a residential property valued at ₹40 lakh, owned by Rouf Ahmad Nanda, son-in-law of Gull Mohammad Tantray, has been attached. Nanda is named in FIR No. 34/2022 under Sections 8/15-29 of the NDPS Act,” it reads.

The attached properties will remain under the custody of the authorities until legal proceedings are concluded. These actions aim to disrupt the financial foundations of drug trafficking networks and send a clear message to offenders. The police have appealed to the public to help in the fight against drug trafficking by sharing any relevant information. Together, we can work towards a safer, drug-free society.
