While reacting to the Supreme Court of India verdict in which it had said that Kashmiris were citizens of India and that Jammu Kashmir had no vestige of sovereignty outside the constitution of India, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik Saturday termed such verdict as ‘of no consequence’.

In a statement, Malik said, “Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally accepted dispute which even has been acknowledged by the parliament of India and pledges made to Kashmiris by Indian leaders including first Indian Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru bear testimony to the fact of it being a dispute that needs a resolution.”

Malik said that no parliament or court can change the status of a disputed territory by passing any law or verdict and when people of a land resolve to strive for freedom, court verdicts and laws never succeed to break their will.

Malik further said that “Great Britain kept India under its occupation for more than two hundred years and British laws and courts used to call India as integral part of British Empire but Indian independence in 1947 exterminated all those laws and verdicts.”

He said that similarly when Jammu Kashmir will get freedom from illegal occupation of India, all these laws and verdicts will fall down like the decks of cards.

Meanwhile, JKLF chairman strongly condemned the ongoing oppression in Kashmir especially in south Kashmir.

Terming the situation in south Kashmir as ‘act of vengeance’, Malik said that the rulers are taking revenge from the common people of Kashmir especially in south Kashmir and have left their forces and police open to terrorize people in what so ever manner they intend to.

He said that beating men and women, vandalizing residential houses and private properties, humiliating people, nocturnal raids and arrests have become an order of the day.

Malik said that yesterday he was in a small village Bogam Kulgam where dozens of innocents are behind bars.

He said that a family in this village has four male members namely Gulzar Ahmad Malik, Bashir Ahmad Malik, Akhtar Hussain Malik and Raees Ahmad Malik are behind bars among which as per reports two have now been released by police today.

He said “this is the story of every house hold and family and it seems that the rulers have decided to take revenge from whole Kashmir especially south Kashmir for their resistance against oppression.”

Malik said that the rulers should remember that their oppression cannot succeed in breaking the will of Kashmiris and as per the law of retribution they will have to answer for their crimes against humanity.

While condemning the re-arrest of Dukhtaran I Millat chief, Syeda Asiya Andrabi whose PSA was quashed by a court but has been again arrested by police again, Malik said that a mother whose son was operated upon recently and whose husband is in jail from last many decades is being terrorized on daily basis which shows the criminal mindset of the rulers.
