The former chief minister and senior congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Wednesday said Congress again has offered support to PDP for government formation but there has been no response from the latter so far.

Azad while talking to KNS also nullified the reports that the Congress has offered any ‘unconditional’ support to PDP for the making of the new government in JK.

“We have offered our support to PDP so that new government could be formed in the state. We have not offered any unconditional support to it. The reports are not correct, ” Azad said.

However, the Congress leader was quick to add that his party has 14 members not just 12. He counted Hakeem Mohammad Yasin and Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami into the fold, saying Congress didn’t field any candidate opposite to them during the state elections of 2014.

Azad maintained further Congress on Wednesday has once again offered PDP its support but so far, no response is being received from the other end.

“The main purpose of supporting the PDP is that the party itself has pledged before the people to keep communal forces at bay in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” Azad said.

He added that the final decision lies with the PDP whether it wants to be with the secular forces or with the communal ones to run the state.
