No Sheep Mandi in Sopore, No Proposal Under Consideration: Govt

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government informed the Legislative Assembly that no Animal or Sheep Mandi has been established in the Sopore constituency, nor are there any current proposals under consideration for such facilities.

The details were provided in a written reply to a question by legislator Irshad Rasool Kar during the ongoing budget session.

In its response, the Animal Husbandry Department stated, “At present, no Animal or Sheep Mandi has been established by the Animal Husbandry/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department in the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir, including Sopore Constituency.”

The government further clarified, “No proposal for establishment of any Animal or Sheep Mandi in Sopore Constituency is under consideration by the Government at present.”

The reply also noted that while such dedicated livestock markets are absent in Sopore, Wool Mandis have been established across the Union Territory under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) to facilitate organized marketing of wool. (KNS)
