SRINAGAR : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Friday clarified that no order has been issued asking employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s Package to work from home ahead of Independence Day.
The clarification came amid reports that PM Package employees had been verbally directed to work from home in view of security concerns ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
“No such orders have been issued in any way,” Garg said, urging people to rely on official government and administration channels for authentic information.
He said the administration, in coordination with security agencies, had put in place necessary arrangements for the safety of employees, residents and the general public ahead of the celebrations.
“We should rely on the authentic information channels that are provided by the government and the administration,” he said.
Garg also extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and invited residents of Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir to attend the main Independence Day function at Bakshi Stadium on Saturday.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will unfurl the national flag and address the gathering at 10 am, he said.
A full-dress rehearsal for the event was held at Bakshi Stadium on Thursday, with parade contingents and cultural groups participating in the preparations.
The Divisional Commissioner said participants had been preparing for the programme for around 20 days and were making efforts to ensure its smooth conduct.
He added that security agencies had conducted a detailed review of arrangements for the national event to ensure adequate security for participants and visitors.
Garg urged people to take part in the Independence Day celebrations either at the main function in Srinagar or at events being organised in their respective districts.(KNO)
