Scores of villages in Karna Sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district are without electricity from past couple of weeks, while locals have been alleging that the present government has ignoring them and has left them on the mercy of God.

The locals told news agency reports that the last time they have seen a bulb lit was in the month of November. “Dozens of villages including Botna, Tara, Teetwal, Seemari, Kadhami, Phagwan, Bijaldar and others are reeling under darkness. The local legislature has been doing only lip service,” they said.

The locals demanded a thorough probe into the bungling in Deen Dayal Upadhaya Scheme. They said under this scheme Karna villages were supposed to get electricity while on ground this scheme was not implemented.

“The men at the helm of affairs filled their coffers through this scheme,” they said.
