Police on Sunday said that a boy drowned in river Jhelum here last evening while two residential houses damaged in fire.

A 13 years old boy Mohammad Abrahim son of Ahitsham Shamsie, a resident of UP, at present Court road Srinagar got drowned in river Jhelum near Amira Kadal, Maisuma.

Police are putting its efforts to fish out body of the drowned boy.

The police statement further said that two residential houses were damaged in two separate fire incidents in Bandipora and Kupwara.

Fire broke out in the residential house of Khursheed Ahmad Parray son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Khos Mohalla Hajin Bandipora, resulting in partial damage to the house. Fire was brought under control with the help of fire tenders and police.

Meanwhile, fire broke out in the residential house belonging to Mohammad Hussain Mughal son of Amirullah Mughal resident of Reshiwari Awoora, Kupwara, resulting in partial damage to the house. Locals of the area brought fire under control.
