SRINAGAR: A 39-year-old man was injured after being attacked by a black bear in a forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday, officials said.
Officials said Nazir Ahmad Shabangi, son of Lal Din Shabangi and a resident of Malikpora Shilthera, was attacked by a black bear in a nearby forest while grazing and tending to his cattle.
The injured man was rescued by local residents and shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for treatment.
Officials said details regarding his medical condition and the exact circumstances of the incident are being ascertained.
