lplThe fever of short form of cricket reached North Kashmir Saturday when Qalamabad Lions got the honour of becoming the champions of first ever Langate premier league by defeating Supernaghama cricket club in a close contest by 3 wickets at Ganapora.

The much awaited final was played today amid an impressive gathering at Ganapora Langate. During the tournament, 136 teams participated which was conducted on knockout basis at 6 different places.

Speaking on the occasion chief guest Syed Hamayun Kaiser praised the organizing committee   for organizing such a huge tournament & taking it to its logical end.

Speaking on the occasion Er Rashid said that event was a attempt to tell the world that despite all odds & sufferings talent in kashmiri youth is still there & the tournament is a message to those who have been portraying cricket as a sign of normalcy in the state.

He further said that the organizers deserve whole hearted congregations for holding such a huge event & have proven their worth that they can arrange such big event without the moral & monetary support of those who mislead masses in the name of these tournaments by crediting their conduct to tools of state  sponsored agencies.

The winning team got a cash award of Rs. 30,000 & runner up an award of Rs. 15,000, besides trophies & other awards. Each participating team received a supports kit on the event. Er. Rashid announced on the occasion that LPL will be held every year & he will leave no stone unturned to explore the available talent in his constituency.
