The Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) of various banks across Srinagar Saturday remain shut due to the unscheduled power cuts, making people suffer at large.

The reports received by Kashmir News Service, mentioned that the ATMs of various central and state banks today remained closed due to the shortage of electricity in various areas across the city.

People dismayed due to the incident held the power department responsible, stating that they had to bear tough time while getting their cash   out of the teller machines. “I went to Zakura to withdraw  cash from the ATM, the machine was shut due to the power cuts and then I moved to nearly 3 other ATM s but the machines there  too  narrated the same tale. Finally I had to move to my branch to withdraw the cash,” said Rafi Ahmad, resident of Hazratbal.

According to KNS city correspondent, the guards at various ATMs mentioned that the unscheduled power cuts have emptied their generators and that the dearth of the proper electricity supply have left the machines out of function.

The reports from downtown areas of Srinagar including the city outskirts Zakura, Gulab Bagh, Habak mentioned that the ATMs remained out of order for the whole day and that people anguished due to the plight had to move from one place to other.

However after the repeated attempts the contact with the authorities of various banks could not get established.
