To review the prevailing situation in Kashmir, the Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh arrived in the valley on Thursday.

Army’s Northern command chief visits south Kashmir

“Accompanied by the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen AK Bhatt, the Army Commander visited the units in South Kashmir, and was briefed by the commanders on the ground about the current situation and recent counter-militant operations,” Srinagar-based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said.

“The Army Commander complimented the troops for their successes and also commended them for their dedication to duty and high standards of professionalism and was appreciative of the measures and Standard Operating Procedures instituted by the units and formations to minimise civilian causalities,” the spokesman said.

“The need to be prepared for meeting the security challenges effectively was also reinforced,” he said.

The spokesman said, Singh, while lauding the excellent synergy amongst all the security forces, exhorted upon all ranks to maintain a safe, secure and peaceful environment for the people of the Kashmir.
