Northern Railway Announces Train Timings for Katra-Srinagar Route, Inauguration Expected by January 26

   

SRINAGAR: For the first time, Northern Railway has unveiled train timings for the Katra-Srinagar route, marking a historic step towards seamless rail connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India. The eagerly anticipated services include the Vande Bharat Express and two Mail/Express trains, providing both faster and more frequent travel options.

The Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) at 8.10 a.m., arriving at Srinagar Railway Station (SINA) at 11.20 a.m., ensuring a swift journey between the two key destinations. The first Mail/Express train will leave Katra at 9.50 a.m. and reach Srinagar at 1.10 p.m., while the second will depart at 3.00 p.m. and arrive at 6.20 p.m.

Downward journeys are also streamlined, with the Mail/Express trains leaving Srinagar at 8.45 a.m. and 3.10 p.m., reaching Katra at 12.05 p.m. and 6.30 p.m., respectively. The Vande Bharat Express will depart from Srinagar at 12.45 p.m. and reach Katra at 3.55 p.m., offering a balanced schedule for commuters and tourists alike.

The launch of these services is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The inauguration is anticipated to take place between January 20 and January 26, 2025.

In addition to the new services, updated timings for existing trains on the route have also been announced. Train No 04483, for instance, will depart Banihal at 7.00 a.m. and reach Baramulla at 10.15 a.m., while Train No 04639 will leave Sangal Dan at 7.05 a.m. and arrive in Baramulla at 12.00 p.m.

This development is expected to significantly enhance rail connectivity in the region, especially during the peak winter months, making travel more accessible for residents and pilgrims alike.
