SRINAGAR: In anticipation of the upcoming summer travel rush, Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has announced the extension of the reserved special express train service between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
Train No. 04081/04082 (New Delhi–Vaishno Devi Katra–New Delhi), which has seen overwhelming response in previous runs, will now operate for an extended period, improving passengers’ chances of securing confirmed tickets during peak months.
Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, stated that the extension was approved due to the train’s immense popularity and consistent 100 percent occupancy. He noted that the service has become a convenient and affordable travel option not only for pilgrims visiting the holy shrine but also for tourists traveling to Kashmir and passengers from intermediate stations along the route.
Under the revised schedule, Train No. 04081 (New Delhi to Katra) will run from April 15 to July 15, completing 40 trips, while Train No. 04082 (Katra to New Delhi) will operate from April 16 to July 16, also covering 40 trips.
Timings:
Train 04081 departs New Delhi at 11:45 PM, reaching Katra at 12:00 noon the next day.
Train 04082 departs Katra at 9:00 PM, arriving in New Delhi at 10:00 AM the following morning.
Key halts include Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu, and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan railway station, providing wider connectivity along the route.
The train, comprising 21 coaches, is expected to accommodate a large number of travelers during the pilgrimage and tourist season. Tickets can be booked via IRCTC website, mobile app, or authorized PRS counters. Passengers are advised to check the latest train status through railway enquiry number 139 or the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) before traveling to avoid inconvenience.
