Northern Railway Renames Railway Station in Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Northern Railway has renamed Kathua Railway Station in the Jammu Division as “Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Kathua” Railway Station, with immediate effect, according to Northern Railway Rates Opening/Closing Circular No. 07 of 2026 issued on July 17.

The circular states that the station’s new alpha code will be MSKT, replacing the earlier code KTHU, while the numerical code has been assigned as 03601001. The station name will appear as “MC SUNIL KATHUA” in the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) and Passenger Reservation System (PRS).

According to the circular, only the station’s name and alpha code have been changed, while all other particulars relating to Kathua Railway Station listed in the Alphabetical List of Railway Stations in India published by the Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA), New Delhi, will remain unchanged.

The circular further states that the necessary corrections relating to the station’s name and alpha code have been issued by the Secretary General, IRCA, New Delhi, while the revised numerical code has been issued by the Statistical and Analysis Officer, BHND.

The renaming has been carried out under the authority of the Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Northern Railway, and the Divisional Railway Manager, Jammu, through D.O. Letter No. DRM/JAT/Misc/2026 dated June 8, 2026.

Northern Railway has directed all concerned authorities and departments to implement the revised station name and code with immediate effect.
