SRINAGAR: A shutdown is being observed across Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Saturday following the death of a youth who succumbed to a bullet injury sustained during a firing incident in Bhaderwah a day earlier, while mobile internet services remain suspended for the second consecutive day as a precautionary measure.
Shops and business establishments remain closed across most parts of the district following the death of Arif Hussain, who sustained a bullet injury during the firing incident on Friday.
Authorities continue to suspend mobile internet services across Doda until further orders to maintain law and order, while security remains heightened to prevent any untoward incident.
Normal life is affected in several parts of the district due to the shutdown, with commercial activities remaining largely suspended.
The firing incident also leaves three Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel injured. Officials earlier said the incident occurred after the youth allegedly attempted to snatch a service rifle during a police operation. Security agencies are investigating the incident, while the deceased’s family has sought a fair and transparent probe.
Officials say the restrictions and enhanced security measures remain in place as a precaution, and further details are awaited.
