A day after J&K’s Education Department ordered verification of degrees possessed by Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers, Kashmir Teachers’ Forum (KTF) Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani Tuesday said that though the forum is not against the verification but he has called an emergency meeting to go through the contents of the government order.

“Though we are not against the verification of degrees of ReT but we have called an emergency meeting of the KTF tomorrow afternoon to go through the contents of the government order,” Qayoom Wani told KNS over phone.

He said that if the government will implement the court order in letter and spirit then there will be no objection from the teachers. “We are against the screening test but if government wants to investigate the suspicious testimonials issued by any fake institute then we will not oppose it,” he said.

It is to mention here that J&K’s Education Department Sunday ordered verification of degrees possessed by Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers within seven days while asserting that it would go ahead with the screening test for them as per the High Court directions.

As per the order No: 396-Edu of 2015, issued by the Commissioner Secretary School Education Department, the respective Chief Education Officers of all the districts have been designated as Nodal Officers for verification of the certificates of ReTs/RReTs obtained through study centres or distance mode. “The whole exercise of verification of such certificates shall be completed within 7 days,” the government order said.
