SRINAGAR: Kashmir economist and erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state’s last finance minister, Dr Haseeb A Drabu, has ruled out the possibility of returning to politics. He was responding to a media blitzkrieg suggesting that he is rejoining PDP, a party he was part of till the last budget he presented early 2018.

“Not at all, “Drabu told KLNS on the phone from Mumbai, his second home. “I have consciously decided not to be in politics, and I am happy with what I am doing.”
The rumours about his return to politics were ostensibly fuelled by his opinion column in Greater Kashmir in which he wrote a piece about Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the Chief Minister he worked with in two terms, first as economic adviser and then as finance minister. The purpose of the write-up, he said, has clearly been “misconstrued”.
