As per a police spokesperson one person was held in Kupwara and he has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan @ Munta son of Innatuallh Khan resident Bungam Bulkote, Hygam who is a ‘notorious criminal’ involved in more than a dozen cases of robbery and burglary. He has been previously detained twice under PSA.
As per a statement police says while checking at about 11.30 last night, Kupwara police directed a Tata Sumo vehicle to stop at a Naka in Kupwara which fled away. The message was passed on to another Naka along the route. At the second naka the vehicle was again directed to stop. The vehicle did not stop and tried to flee away. Seeing this police party fired two shots. One of the shots hit a person in the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle stopped and the persons boarding the vehicle fled away.
After some time police got the information that the injured person has been brought to Kupwara Hospital with a bullet injury in left leg. Kupwara police has registered a case FIR Number 89/2013 in this regard. Investigation has been started.
