The state government here is all set to regularize the services of daily wagers that are around 40 thousand in number in Jammu and Kashmir with the 10 days deadline set for the same.

Top government sources told KNS that the formalities for the regularization of the daily wagers have been completed with the formal announcement likely to be made within coming 10 days.

Sources informed further that the chief minister Omar Abdullah himself will make the announcement.

State government asked the various departments to submit the information of the daily wagers till June 30. The state finance department cleared 56213 cases against the total number of 59594 cases.

The reports informed that there are 25977 daily wagers engaged in the Public Works Department (PWD) out of which 25536 cases have been cleared for the regularization with 441 persons still in the pending list.  Forest Department had 7717 daily wagers and 7088 cases have been cleared so far. Agriculture and Rural Department had 3339 cases out of which 3144 have been cleared with more than 195 still in limbo. Housing and Urban Development Department had 1822 cases of such nature and the details reveal more than 460 are pending.  There were 4857daily wagers engaged PDD out of which 2325 have been regularized while as cases of 2532 are yet to be looked into.  Estates department had 489 cases out of which 446 have already been cleared by the government. The autonomous corporations of the state had 9614 registered number of daily wagers among which 1481 cases have not been approved so far due to pending information by the parent departments.

Meanwhile, Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC-Q) Abdul Qayoom Wani said that he had a detailed meeting with the chief minister Omar Abdullah in the recent past wherein CM assured the resolution of the issues pertaining to the state employees at large including the regularization of daily wagers and removal of the pay anomalies.
