SRINAGAR: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has warned NEET-UG 2026 candidates and their parents against submitting fake or AI-generated OMR sheets while raising complaints over score discrepancies, cautioning that such submissions could invite legal action.
The advisory follows the agency’s scrutiny of complaints from candidates claiming differences between their expected and declared scores. During verification, the NTA found that several OMR sheets submitted with complaints appeared to be fake or generated using artificial intelligence.
“NTA is closely monitoring and scrutinising all complaints. In the wake of many OMR sheets submitted for scrutiny turning out to be fake/AI-generated, students and parents are advised to submit only original OMRs for scrutiny. Any fake/AI-generated OMR may invite legal action against the complainant,” the agency said.
The NEET-UG 2026 results were declared on July 16, with more than 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying the examination.
The original examination, held on May 3, was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the matter, and the examination was re-conducted on June 21.
Following the controversy, the Centre announced that future NEET-UG examinations will be conducted as computer-based tests (CBT) instead of the traditional pen-and-paper format.
NEET-UG is India’s largest undergraduate entrance examination, with nearly 25 lakh candidates registering annually. It is conducted for admission to MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha courses across the country.
