Police Monday registered a case of theft against unidentified persons for breaking into the offices of three national media outlets located in Hotel Pamposh in Regal Chowk Srinagar.

Police sources told CNS that some unidentified persons managed to sneak into the hotel rooms of three media outlets CNN-IBN, IBN7 and Times Now and decamped with some mobile phones.

Times Now Bureau Chief for Kashmir, Mir Farid told CNS that motive of the persons who sneaked into the hotel is not known yet. “We fail to understand why they left expensive cameras and other equipment there and stole three chap mobile sets. Police has registered a case while experts have collected samples and taken finger prints,” he said.

Another reporter working for one of the News Channels said that the irony is that CCTV cameras were made non-operational before the incident. “These unidentified persons were not come with a motive to steal our valuables but there is something behind it which needs to be probed. The unidentified persons have taken out documents from the lockers and torn them apart besides throwing our camera’s into dustbin. They have ransacked all the rooms before their exit,” he said.

One of the staffer at hotel claimed that CCTV camera installed on the floor abruptly started working after it had developed a snag automatically. A police official said that they have register a case vide FIR number 1/2014 under section 379 of RPC in this regard. “We have sent all the samples and finger prints to FSL and will take up investigation thoroughly once the report from FSL will arrive,” he said.
