Hurriyat Conference (m) Friday said that Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General has invited it Chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to attend the annual meeting of the foreign ministers of member states of the OIC and the meeting of “Kashmir contact group” to be held at New York from27 September to October 1 on the side lines of the 70th sessions of the UN General assembly.

“APHC has an observer status in the OIC,” the Hurriyat statement said.

“Mirwaiz, who has not been able to attend international meetings and seminar since government has not issued him travel documents for the last 3 years, said that if government provided him with travel documents he would attend the OIC meetings,” the Hurriyat (m) statement said quoting Mirwaiz.

“Apart from representing the people’s aspirations and advocating a just solution to Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, he would lay special emphasis to raise awareness about the cultural and religious aggression being undertaken in J&K by communal and divisive forces like the recent order of the banning beef in the State,” the statement added.

“In case he is not able to go he will write a letter to OIC general secretary detailing out the current political, social and religious scenario in the state,” the statement said.

Hurriyat (m) has meanwhile demanded that government should urgently provide Mirwaiz with travel documents and restore his fundamental right to travel.

While addressing the Friday gathering at historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz asked people to remain alert and vigilant of conspiracies hatched by those forces who are hell bent to weaken the Muslim identity of Jammu & Kashmir. “These forces right away since 1947 have planned to implement the RSS agenda in Kashmir, adding, the policy is to weaken the Muslim character of Jammu and Kashmir and work towards dividing Kashmiris on sectarian and ethnic lines.”

“These forces are using several ploys to divert the attention of the people from the freedom struggle. Sometime the issue of settling refugees is raked up, sometimes the government wants to build separate colonies for Pandits and retired army men, sometimes it talks of rescinding Article 370, and now under the garb of Court orders they have planned to ban beef in the state,” Mirwaiz said.

While presenting the resolution before people which was unanimously passed by Mutehda Majlis-e-Ulema yesterday Mirwaiz stated that Muslims of Kashmir would not tolerate any intervention in their religious affairs.

On the occasion Mirwaiz said the Eid-ul-Azha prayers would be offered at Eidgah Srinagar on 10 am while as the Khutba on the philosophy of Sacrifice would be delivered at 9 am Insha Allah.  He also has asked all the Imams and Ulemas of Majids, Imambargahs, and Shrines to present the resolution of Mutheda Majlis-e-Ulema before people for approval on Eid congregation.
