SRINAGAR: Oman will begin observing Ramadan 1447 AH on Thursday, February 19, 2026, following confirmation that the crescent moon could not be sighted on Tuesday, February 17.
The official committee overseeing lunar observations stated that the moon sets before or at sunset across all governorates on February 17, making visual sighting impossible. As a result, the month of Sha’ban will be completed as 30 days, with Wednesday, February 18, marking its final day.
Astronomical calculations underpin the committee’s decision, ensuring that the start of Ramadan aligns with both religious observance and scientific accuracy. The announcement provides clarity for the entire country on fasting schedules and related religious activities.
