Omar Abdullah condemns assault on journalists in Shopian

Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday condemned the assault on journalists during a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Taking to social networking site Twitter, Omar wrote: “Highly unfortunate reports about journalists injured, including some with pellet injuries, while covering clashes in South Kashmir. I condemn this incident. The indiscriminate use of force, often without any accountability, will always be counterproductive.”

Earlier four photojournalists were hit by pellets fired by the forces near the site of the gunfight in Shirmal area of Shopian where three militants were killed in a gunfight.
