SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, visited the Chenab Bridge on Thursday to review the final preparations ahead of its formal inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
The visit focused on assessing safety measures, structural readiness, and logistical arrangements at the site of the world’s highest railway bridge, a key component of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project.
Officials briefed both leaders on the current status, trial run results, and security arrangements for the event. The bridge is expected to significantly enhance rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
