Omar Abdullah Moves 13 Demands, 12 Supplementary Demands in Assembly

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday moved 13 Demands for Grants and 12 Supplementary Demands in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, seeking financial allocations for various government departments. The proposals were presented for discussion by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.

“I move that a sum not exceeding the aggregate amount mentioned in Demand Nos. 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 14, 19, 20, 24, 31, and 33 be granted to the government to defray the charges which will come in course of payment during the year ending 31st March 2026,” Abdullah stated.

The demands pertain to key departments, including General Administration, Finance, Housing, Power Development, Tourism, Revenue, Law, Disaster Management, Hospitality & Protocol, Civil Aviation, Culture, Estates, Information, and Planning, all of which are under the Chief Minister’s charge.

In addition, Abdullah also moved 12 Supplementary Demands under Demand Nos. 1, 8, 10, 12, 18, 19, 24, 29, 30, 32, 33, and 36, seeking allocations for expenditure during the financial year ending 31st March 2025.

The discussion on the Demands for Grants will continue until March 20, after which the Chief Minister is scheduled to respond to the debate on March 20 afternoon. The grants will then be subjected to a voice vote for approval.
