SRINAGAR

Hurriyat (G) today expressed serious concern over the continuous house arrest of its chairman Syed Ali Geelani, saying the chief minister Omar Abdullah cannot face the senior separatist leader politically.

Terming Geelani’s confinement to his house as ‘oppressive’ Hurriyat (G) has said that such measures by the government would in no way deter Geelani from pursuing the cause of freedom struggle.

“Omar Abdullah can’t face him politically, consider him a risk for his regime   and now confined him to home,” reads the statement issued by Hurriyat(G) to a local news agency, KNS.  The statement further mentioned that Geelani continues to be under house arrest and was not allowed to offer Friday prayers today.
