Former Chief Minister and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah Sunday condemned in the strongest of words the killing of a policeman Zahoor Ahmed Dar in Redwani, Kulgam.

Zahoor Ahmed Dar was the personal security officer of MLA Homshalibug Abdul Majid Larmi.

A party statement said that expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Omar Abdullah said such incidents need to be condemned unequivocally and have no place in a civilized society which has struggled hard to overcome a period of turmoil and suffering.

“I pray for peace to the departed soul and expressed my solidarity with the family of the deceased policeman. The family of the deceased should be granted ex-gratia relief and compensation as soon as possible,” Omar Abdullah said.

He also expressed his concern over the injury to a civilian Zahoor Ahmad Illahi in the firing incident and prayed for his speedy recovery, the statement added.
