Expressing dismay over uploading of “misleading” pictures by former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on micro-blogging networking site, Twitter, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Wing President, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra Saturday said it is “unbecoming” of a former chief minister to use such contemptible tactics to provoke the situation in Kashmir.

“While the civil society and various other political quarters are playing a positive and responsible role to defuse the situation, it is surprising to see the former chief minister acting in such a reckless manner to provoke the situation and trigger passions against Kashmiris outside,” Parra said in a PDP statement issued here today.

“Uploading a picture on his Twitter handle taken on 28 June during 2010 unrest, when Omar was himself the Chief Minister, he (Omar Abdullah) has not only tried to demoralize the J&K Police but also demonize the Kashmiri youth,” Parra said. “Resorting to such despicable tactics is not only highly unfortunate but also condemnable.”

“The irony is that despite drawing massive flak for spreading lies on twitter, Omar has not bothered to remove the faked picture from his twitter account,” he added.

The statement quoted Parra as having said, “as a leader of opposition, Omar should behave with maturity instead of taking to Twitter with juvenile and provocative tweets.” “Omar must know that the present age Kashmiri youth are extremely sharp to be misled by such nasty manoeuvring and instead the former chief minister has made himself a laughing stock by resorting to such cheap tactics.”
