Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today received brief on the functioning of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (BGSB) University at the 3rd review meeting, he chaired here. The meeting was informed that a Solar Park is coming up at the University Campus at a cost of Rs. 2.7 crores.CM BBGSBU MEETING 13

As per a statement Omar Abdullah, who is also the Chancellor of the University, has highlighted the need for producing boys and girls of high excellence and high market demand from the University by offering subjects of present day need to them in the University academic programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University has spelt out the road map for the holistic and comprehensive development of the University in the meeting. He has said that befitting measures have been put in place to make the residential BGSB University a centre of academic excellence and seat of learning.

In a PowerPoint presentation, Deputy Registrar of the University, Suneet Gupta stated that BGSB University has shown encouraging growth both in the infrastructure development and academic excellence since its inception in 2005.

It was stated in the meeting that the University provides M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Applied-Mathematics, Arabic and Management Studies. Besides the University also offers Post Graduate programmes in Masters in Computer Application, Master of Science in IT, Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, MBA in Financial Management, M.A Arabic, B.Tech Programmes in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Civil, Electrical and Renewable Energy.

It was also mentioned in the meeting that various reputed companies have employed 48 passing out students of the University which include 16 under Udaan Programme. The enrolment of the students in the University has gone up from 95 in 2005 to 1915 in 2013. The number of books has gone to 25,012, journals 90 and e-journals to 5,000.

  1. no doubt that the university is providing courses and degrees and is growing in infrastructure. but what’s the point
    of having a course or degree in such a place which can not provide placements although charging certain amount as placement fee.

Ph.d and m.phil courses are there but they only select those students who are already in the staff of the university.entrance test is just a formality..the system of the universtiy is totally disturbed by some officials.they don’t have teaching staff.they hire the staff from other organisations and they complete the syllabus of 6 months in 1 month..
