A scooty driver was killed and his pillion-mate injured after they were hit by a mini-bus in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday, police said.
An official said that around 11 am, a mini-bus hit the two-wheeler, resulting into on-spot death of its driver and injuries to his pillion-mate.
The deceased was identified as Ubaid Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmad Lone of Magam village of Handwara.
The injured, identified as Adil Rashid, was shifted to Handwara hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Station House Officer Handwara Azim Iqbal said that an FIR has been registered at police station Handwara.
“The minibus driver has been arrested and his vehicle has been also seized,” he said.
