Prime Minster Narendra Modi on Sunday while addressing an election rally in northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, remarked that the “Jawans of Army” belonging to the state are being pelted with stones in Kashmir.

News gathering agency ANI tweeted: “Your Jawans are being targeted by stonepelters in Kashmir,” Modi told the election rally.

PM Modi’s BJP and PDP are running a coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir.

The remark invited criticism from National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah.

Taking a jibe at Modi, former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah said that Modi is highlighting the failure of his ally Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and her administration in J&K.

Omar tweeted:  “On the campaign trail PM Modi highlighting the failure of his ally Mehbooba Mufti and her administration.”
