SRINAGAR: At least one person lost his life, and four others, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), sustained injuries in an accident near Navyug Tunnel (NG-44) in the Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Officials said an MG Hector vehicle, bearing registration number JK01AL 0707, lost control due to overspeeding and skidded off the road, resulting in an accident near Navyug Tunnel on Tuesday evening. “In the accident, one person was killed, while four others sustained injuries. Among the injured was an SPO, who was struck near his post. All the injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.”
“The injured have been identified as Zubair Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Hameed Wani, resident of Heerpora, Shopian, who died on the spot; Irshad Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rehman Mir; Mushtaq Ahmad Dalal, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dalal, resident of Shopian; Umar Bashir Najar, son of Bashir Ahmad Najar, resident of Shopian; and SPO Showkat Ahmad,” they said.
Meanwhile, the police have taken cognisance of the accident. (GNS)
