SRINAGAR: An encounter is going on between militants and police in Reban, a Sopore village and there have not been any losses to two sides. The encounter started within minutes after the police and army cordoned off the village on basis of specific inputs.

“We had cordoned the village off and when we started searches, we were fired it, this established the contact,” a senior police officer who is on spot of the encounter said. “This started an encounter that is still on.”
Police said they are being fired from a single storey house and the fire is being retaliated. The inmates of the house have already been evacuated.

“We do not know which group the militant belongs to but we are sure, he is a single person,” the officer said.
Authorities have blocked internet in the area and schools around the twon have been closed. They do not want any tensions in the belt. However, reports said the clashes are going onbetween youth and police in the periphery of the major village. Basically, groups of youth from Hadipora and Chetlora attempting marching towrads Rebon but the police stopped them at the periphery of the village. This led to tensions amnd massiev stone pleting.

The encounter took place at a time when Srinagar is already tense over the separatist triumvirate going to Delhi and volunteer arrest before the NIA. Police have put most of the Srinagar city under “restrictions”, a word usually refers to “unofficial curfew”.
