One militant was killed when army and Special Operation Group of Police launched a joint operation at
Margi-Anderbug-Lolab in Kupwara district.

Sources in police told KNS, on a tip off received by 28 RR of army and SOG Tikipora that four militants were seen in Anderbug. Reports reaching Kashmir News Service said that a joint operation was launched to flush out the militants who managed to escape from the village.

However, the army and SOG chased the militants and as they reached Margi forest area the militants fired on the army.
In army retaliation one militant was killed whose body was kept in police station Lalpora. “The four militants are said to be affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad  and the one who got killed in the gun battle was handed over by police to local Auqaf committee which laid him to rest,” sources told KNS.

The cordon is still on and the army and SOG are looking for the other three militants, Abdul Jabbar, SSP Kupwara told KNS.
