One militant has been killed while a para-commando of Indian army has suffered injuries in the ongoing encounter between forces and militants in Sagipora forest of Sopore in the northern part of Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The operation is still in progress.

Police said that the forces including Army’s 22 RR, CRPF’s 92Bn Sopore police launched a cordon and search operation after inputs about the presence of militants.

The hiding militants were challenged by the forces after firing some warning shots, sources said. They said the militants retaliated by firing on the forces triggering a gunfight.

A para commando of the Indian army was also injured in the gunfight.
