SRINAGAR: One more civilian was killed in a cross-LoC fire in Hajipeer sector of  Uri area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.

Official sources said that one civilian identified as Irshad Ahmad was killed and several houses were also damaged in the shelling.

A police officer said that Pakistan army initiated the “unprovoked ceasefire” violation by firing mortar shells and small arms along the LoC in Uri.

The troops manning the fence responded strongly which resulted in a heavy exchange of cross-LoC shelling in these areas, he said.

Earlier, a BSF officer and two civilians were killed in shelling from across the Line of Control in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
