SRINAGAR: One more militant was killed in an ongoing encounter with the counter-insurgent forces in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district taking the death toll of militants to two, an official said.

The gunfight broke out hours after the forces party was attacked in which two CRPF men and a cop were killed.

Quoting officials news agency KNO reported that a joint team of Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a Cordon and Search Operation in outskirts of Baramulla soon after the attack on forces party.

While chasing the militants, a joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter, they said.

A police officer said that contact with hiding militants has been established and firing from both sides is on, adding that two militants have been killed in the gunfight while the operation is going on.
