SRINAGAR: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti Saturday said that guns can’t resolve any issue and only dialogue can bring peace in the Union Territory.

She visited the fire-affected families of Noor Bagh in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district along with other party leaders.

Expressing her concern over the incident, Mehbooba while talking to reporters as per the news agency KNO, said that everyone here has done a wonderful job by dousing the flames and deserve much appreciation.

“I have talked to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla. There is a need to decongest the area and shift some families to some other place and facilitate them, which is important,” she said.

“If such steps are not initiated in future similar incidents can happen again,” Mehbooba said.

Referring to victims, she said that they are very poor people and have loans having fewer wages and they must be taken care of. She said that people must generously support the fire victim families and enable them to at least construct places to live in before the harsh winter approaches.

Reacting on the Sopore attack in which two cops and two civilians lost their lives this afternoon, Mehbooba said that “We condemn such attacks. These attacks cannot solve the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.”

“It won’t even happen with the gun of New Delhi, nor with the gun picked by the youth here in Kashmir rather it complicates things,” she said, adding that she believes that the solution to everything lies in a peaceful dialogue.
