The budget start can be stormy. The opposition had a joint meeting on the eve of the start of the session on Monday.

To devise a joint strategy and ensure coordination in both houses of J&K state legislature during the Budget Session, beginning in the winter capital on Monday, a joint meeting of National Conference, Congress, CPI (M) and the legislators of other parties was held here today.

NC Working President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presided over the meeting held at his residence.

The meeting followed the NC legislative party met at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan Sunday evening.

Besides Mohammed Yousf Tarigami and Hakim Mohammed Yasin, the meeting was attended by the Pradesh Congress President G A Mir and Vice President Sham Lal Sharma.

The meeting discussed various issues likely to be taken up in the Budget Session. Held in a cordial atmosphere, the meeting witnessed unanimity over the issues to be raised during the session. The leaders discussed the overall political situation and framed up their priorities in respect of issues to be raised.

Omar Abdullah appreciated the unanimity and approach to be adopted during the session. He also called for synergized floor management.

Earlier, a high level legislative party meeting of NC was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this evening, with Omar Abdullah in the chair, to firm up the party strategy during the session.

The meeting was attended by the National Conference Members of Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The meeting, which lasted for over one and half hour, discussed elaborately the issues to be taken up in the two houses.

At the outset, a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to S Dharamveer Singh Oberoi, a sitting MLC of the National Conference, who passed away the other day.

Omar Abdullah paid tributes to Oberoi while the legislative party placed on record its deep appreciation for the role played by the late leader as a pro-active legislator.
