Nearly 1055 stranded residents left Goa by a Special train for Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur railway station on Sunday late evening.
The train, which left the Thivim railway station in North Goa, is expected to reach its destination by Tuesday.
“The Shramik Express train from Goa left for Udhampur today at around 10:55 pm with around 1055 migrants on it from Thivim railway station,” an official said.
He said that the passengers were screened at the station with a thermal device and given a medical certificate, indicating they were free from Coronavirus symptoms.
The stranded Jammu and Kashmir residents were driven to the railway station by state transport corporation buses in a convoy, before boarding the train at around 11 pm, an official said.
