SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday felicitated the winners of the ‘Pedal Through Paradise’ Cycle Race-2025 organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Srinagar, calling on the youth to reject terrorism and drug abuse while committing to building a peaceful and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.
Over 5,500 cyclists from across the country participated in the event held under 10 categories. The race was part of the JK Police’s Civic Action Programme aimed at promoting youth engagement through sports.
Addressing the gathering, LG Sinha said the event was more than a sporting competition. “Pedal Through Paradise is not just a sporting event but a symbol of new Jammu Kashmir. It sends a powerful message to youth to choose the path of progress over violence and drug addiction,” he said.
The LG saluted the sacrifices and service of Jammu and Kashmir Police, calling it a force built on “duty, service and sacrifice.” “Its legacy is written by the blood of its brave personnel, whose ultimate sacrifices have strengthened national unity, established peace, inspired new hope and propelled JK towards an era of peace and prosperity,” he added.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and its support structure. “We must unite and wage a war against terrorism, its eco-system and drug addiction. It is my firm resolve to eliminate the ecosystem fueling terrorism and destroy the entire network responsible for radicalizing youth, supplying weapons, funding, targeting, and assisting terrorists,” Sinha said.
Calling for a Fit Jammu Kashmir, he urged the youth to take responsibility for the region’s future. “We believe in establishing peace, not buying it. Civil and Police administration is committed to delivering justice to the families of victims of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism,” he said.
Among those present were Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat; Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti; Special DG Coordination SJM Gillani; ADGP Armed Anand Jain; ADGP Headquarters MK Sinha; IGP Kashmir VK Birdi; other senior officers of police and civil administration; members of the J&K Cycling Association; and prominent sports personalities.
