SRINAGAR: Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to arrive in Srinagar shortly to hold an emergency meeting with security agencies, following a militant attack on tourists in Pahalgam this afternoon.
In a post on X, Amit Shah condemned the attack and expressed anguish over the incident.
“My thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared, and we will come down heavily on the perpetrators with the harshest consequences,” he said.

He added that he has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the incident. “Briefed PM Modi about the incident and held a meeting with the concerned officials via video conferencing. Will shortly leave for Srinagar to hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi, who is currently visiting Saudi Arabia, spoke with Home Minister Amit Shah over the phone regarding the Pahalgam attack. The Prime Minister asked Shah to take all appropriate measures and to visit the site of the attack, they said.
Militants attacked a group of tourists in Baisarana village, Pahalgam, this afternoon. Several are feared dead, and many others were injured.
