Speaking to reporters outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly complex, Abdullah said Pakistan must shed the “misleading notion” that Jammu and Kashmir will ever become its part . “We did not go with Pakistan in 1947 and will never accept the two-nation theory. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh—all are one and will respond together,” he said.

The NC leader, who has long advocated for dialogue with Pakistan, said the Pahalgam attack marked a turning point. “I always supported talks, but what will we tell the families of those killed? Is this justice?” he asked.

He added that the nation expects a response that ends such attacks permanently. “This is not the time for old responses. People want action that will put a stop to this violence once and for all,” he said.
