SRINAGAR: Kashmir reeled under the cold wave with minimum temperatures below freezing point on Monday even as the Meteorological department predicted dry weather till January 31.

“Night temperatures are likely to drop further in the coming days as the weather is likely to remain dry till January 31 with clear night sky in J&K and Ladakh,” MeT officials told Kashmir Life.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where minimum temperature was minus 11.9 degrees.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 5.2 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 5.5 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Gulmarg – the famous tourist place settled at a low of minus 11.5 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 8.4 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 3.1 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 6.0 degrees Celsius, Katra 6.3, Batote minus 1.1, Banihal recorded 0.6 and Bhaderwah recorded minus 2.5 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
