Pak Army Targets Forward Areas in JK, Ceasefire Violated Again: Officials

   

SRINAGAR: The Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small-arms firing across the Line of Control (LoC) during the intervening night of May 5–6, targeting multiple forward areas in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

Official said that firing was reported from areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. The Indian Army said its troops responded in a proportionate manner.

“During the night of 05–06 May 2025, Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small-arms firing from posts across the Line of Control… Indian Army responded in a proportionate manner,” the sources said.

There were no reports of casualties or major damage on the Indian side. Troops in all sectors remain on high alert, they added.

The situation along the LoC is being closely monitored amid increased instances of ceasefire violations in recent weeks. (JKNS)
