In the midst of a political row over National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah’s controversial remarks, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad has said “Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) is a part of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India and should remain that”.

“Each political party, be it the BJP or the RSS, has its own thinking and other political parties have their own thinking. As far as my party is concerned, I would like to say that PaK was a part of Jammu and Kashmir and should remain with it. And Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India,” Azad said.

Asked about the political killings, Azad said, “The killing of political workers and civilians of other parties across the country is atrocious. This is happening in Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and across the country. It is most unfortunate that people are being targeted by militants. The atmosphere across the country is getting vicious.”

On the video of militants questioning a Congress worker at gunpoint in Shopian, the senior Congress leader said, “Militants are the most notorious class in J&K and across the country and globe. It is very sad and I strongly condemn it. Such things should not be tolerated and I am sure the security forces, sooner or later, will be able to apprehend such persons and take them to task. Unfortunately, this may be done not by terrorists but by other political parties.”

A video has gone viral on the social media showing a Congress worker being held at gunpoint by terrorists, who are making him take a pledge that he would not work with any political party in future.
